Showing my housemates how much I love them..with cake.

I lived with 3 people in our shared house and when it came around to their birthdays I wanted to make them each a cake. Again at this time I had not perfected my decoration, piping techniques or my buttercream recipe.

This was for my housemate Beth. She grew up on a farm and was from a farming family so I made her this cake for her birthday. Looking at it now it looks like such an amateur attempt, which I guess it was, but at the time I thought that was the nuts. I liked making the grass my adding food dye to desiccated coconut. A clever technique, but I certainly needed more color.

This was for my housemate Ursula. She is a massive nature nut but is also rather girly and loves pink and pastel colors. This was the first time I had tried making a shape cake and was done from one round cake tin. It didn't come out bad shape wise but there was defiantly room for improvement for sure. Also the buttercream was very runny but I wasn't sure how to make it better at the time.

This was for my housemate Jamie who loved apple products. Like the butterfly cake above the buttercream was awful but at least was the color I wanted it to be. I was quite impressed how the logo came out considering this was just a stencil I made from paper.
