When it all began...

12 years ago is probably where my cake decorating journey began. Well, that is when I started to look at it seriously any way, with a view to improving my craft.
I have always called my Granny Bradfield 'Granny Bee'. It was something that stuck from childhood, so the poor lady every birthday was handed some form of gift that had a bee on it.

For this particular year I wanted to bake her something rather than buy something. Knowing she liked raspberries and muffins this seemed a great combo. Adding buttercream to the top to make a flower, and purchasing some pre-made bee toppers from eBay rounded off this design. I wasn't confident at molding my own fondant icing at all at this point... or making buttercream. This mean't it came out kind of runny and grainy and I had to fix it as best I could. I don't remember what the muffins were like but I imagine they were 'ok'.
Finishing it off with green cases (her favorite color) this was ready to gift to her. She loved it...but then I guess she had to say that as she was my Gran! Haha.
